WHAT WE BELIEVE

what we belive

Christian Compass Ministries is a Protestant Church of Christian faith that believes in God our Father and Creator, Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior, and the Holy Spirit as the manifestation of God within us, and our Comforter.

The following are our core beliefs:

  1. There is only one God who was, is and will ever be. God is our Creator and our Sustainer.
  2. Jesus Christ is the Son of God, the very Word of God; He was made flesh and came to dwell among us, and through him we have communion with God.
  3. Jesus Christ was crucified, buried and was raised from the dead; in so doing, he defeated death. He ascended into heaven, and one day shall return.
  4. The Holy Spirit, the third person of the Trinity, is the revelation of the promise of Jesus Christ to every believer. He is our Advocate, our Assurance, and our Comforter.
  5. We are saved by grace accomplished through the work of Jesus Christ; salvation is a gift from God. It serves to restore our relationship with God.
  6. Every child of God has been given gifts to be used to the glory of God and for the “common good.” It is through the acknowledgement of these gifts that we discover the purpose for which God created us
  7. The Church, vigilant and militant, is the congregation of believers who are receivers of the Word of God.
  8. Baptism is the Christian rite of initiation by all who profess to embrace Christian faith. It signifies a fundamental change from within. There are several modes of baptism; we believe in full immersion.
  9. Dedication is an act of “setting apart” and consecrating young persons to God. The act of dedication places them under the auspices of their parents/guardians until such time as they are able to comprehend the nature of Baptism.
  10. Communion represents the body and blood of our Lord and Savior Jesus, the Christ. Communion is practiced in remembrance of the sacrifice of Jesus Christ for the atonement of our sins. We have been commanded to celebrate Holy Communion as often as led by the Holy Spirit.
  11. Re-Baptism is a repeating of one of the modes of baptism. Re-Baptism will not be conducted as the Bible states that there is but one baptism.
  12. Hell (Purgatory) is generally understood as the final resting place where the ungodly will suffer eternal punishment. We believe that when physical life ends, the spirit of men and women will stand before God to give an account for the things done while in the body.
  13. God has reconciled humankind to himself through the atoning sacrifice of Jesus Christ.
